Yum. Fixed this last night with a few changes. Didn't add the cottage cheese and ranch dressing. Added shredded parmisan and red wine vinegar. Pasta salad is an easy to put together complete meal with so many variants.

Yep! Add some purple grapes, some walnuts and some chunks of chicken and you have a full meal with all food groups covered.

WOOODYZ sounds great (except for the ranch dressing). CCMAMA, I like your changes.
I have the original Marshall Field's pasta salad recipe (from store of that name - now taken over by Macy's) and served in the flagship store's Walnut room. It was extremely salty so I altered it, and added sausage - salami, that kind of thing. MEN love it and so do women. At the last funeral lunch I brought it for them and it was all MEN who came back for 2nds. Then I fed the stuff I kept at home to the contractor's for our gold plated Attic (don't get me started) and they asked for more!
I like it too. Won't eat most pasta salads as for some reason I hate(!) ranch dressing. Can't figure out why but the taste just is awful to me - must be my tastebuds.
