Gang, looking for a concealed carry revolver. Looked at a Smith and wesson 442 (.38), and a Ruger LCR (9mm). Leaning toward concealed hammer and .38+P.
I am beginning to have issues breaking down my autos (hand strength), so looking at revolvers.
any thoughts?

I am a fan of the Ruger LCR. I shot the Smith the same day as the Ruger and between the trigger and the perceived recoil, the Ruger won hands down. We went with the .357 version, but my wife loads hers with .38+p hollow points because she can control it better. Pretty darn snappy with 158gr .357's - but if you want knock down power, the .357 mag delivers it. You have to use moon clips for the 9mm version, so I personally wouldn't go that way. The LCR frame makes a nice little carry gun, with 5 rounds. This is a picture of it compared my 4" mid sized GP-100 for size comparison. And in my palm

Another vote for the LCR. Model number is 5450. Marc covered the particulars.

Thanks. I had come to the same conclusion about the 9mm and moon clips. I saw Taurus ultralite 85s for sale in a local ad. It has an expposed hammer, and I saw a couple of reviews that it had some problems with expelling all the empty cases (hand grip got in the way). Any first hand experience with one, gang?

My favorite pocket revolvers are S&W mod 36 chief special, or same gun in stainless the mod 60. Very slick, nice guns.

I got the 9 MM to carry in an ankle holster because 90% of the time my concealed carry is a 9 MM
I don't like the moon clips either, but I got kinda used to them cause the 9 MM derringer I also have is the same kind of set-up. They would be next to impossible to load during a gun fight.
I'd buy a .22 LR/MAG in the derringer if I ran across one when I was in the mood, i have seen some at gun shows and on the intranet. But I would more than likely carry shorts or subsonic in it.

why shorts or subsonic, woodyz? I do not presume to answer for Woody, but: Sound level reduction. Drop below the speed of sound and lose the "crack" sound when when the bullet goes supersonic. Especially when using some form of sound suppression.

sound for sure
+ with that short barrel use is going to be very close so there is not a whole lot of difference in the damage done so might as well take advantage of the sub-sonic
