I have my license, but will not post my call sign on this or any other online forum because of the ease with which people can use publically available data (see below) to determine my personal information such as my name and address. www.qrz.com/www.arrl.org/advanced-call-sign-searchhamcall.net/callwww.hamdata.com/I would encourage HAMs to be very careful about when and where they post their call signs. Have to ask, How many Hams on this forum? I'm 2W0HMF + DA6HMF. I'm living in Germany for the time being so im a little restricted on what bands I can use = 80/15/10m. All the best. John KØXXX here. I hold an Extra class ticket, but my main interests are in VHF+ Grid Hunting, Contesting, Digital, Meteor Scatter, and Moon Bounce. And I have worked both Germany (DL7PR) and the UK (GØRUZ) on 6 meters, as well as HF I am currently mostly off the air while I rebuild my towers and antennas, but plan to be back on in time for next years 6m season. Until I am back on permanently, I sometimes throw my old G5RV on the emergency mast and operate on HF, just to get a little air time.

I'm planning to get my tech license before summer. In fact the whole family will - at least that's the plan. Arranging a class for the scouts (boys, adults and families) to attend. My goal is to prepare these boys for a shtf scenario without saying so. I'm doing the same with myself. I think this is just a step in the direction.

I just got mine last fall and then went back a month later and got my General license.

I got mine a few months ago...KD0TRV (KD-zero-TRV). Only I don't have a setup yet. I sent a copy of my license to EchoLink, but I haven't heard from them to be able to use the computer. As soon as I get my taxes back, I plan to get a set up of some kind and get started. I put off taking the General test until I get everything lined out with school. But I do plan to get the G-license...I want the extra access it offers.

I started watching some videos online to prep. Good stuff. Can't wait. I started looking at equipment, but stopped myself.
