While your premise may be correct Missasip, an MLRS launcher fires 12 rounds. Back then each rocket was 8" in diameter and carried 600 bomblets. At a HOB (Height of Burst) of 50 meters one rocket would cover almost three football fields if I remember correctly. And I'm not sure I do.

I remember when they first showed up. I was in an 8 inch battery and saw them fire in Graf. Great area coverage but still not as accurate as the 110 and from what I remember not nuke capable.

Ahhhh Graf. What a joy. We were the third MLRS battery in the army and the second one in Germany. The other two batteries were running about 40% readiness (stateside unit was at Ft Riley). We were running 92%. First night time fire mission at Graf ever. Night fire is pretty damn awesome. Well, it was 'artillery' so that was redundant.
