This is such an obscure code that I doubt it's even remotely useful any more. Interesting, but only as history. I would think decoding spray paint graffiti would be more helpful, if it's even possible.
Just my two cents.

Make your own code for maybe a stash/cache location that only you and friends can read...just a thought :-)

I'd say the information is probably dated, but useful anyway. Roma symbols for instance. They matter when shtf, and they also matter when it comes to identifying threats.

i've seen the hobo symbols before..those and other symbols could come in handy,in a worse case situation..seeing how they can be used when it comes to family, relatives and friends.the proper symbol at the driveway entrance, will tell the rest of the family/group that the home aint safe,to approach..

We have codes made from many places that we have put together
symbolizes/pictures are easier to understand but may not be easier to draw/create
we also use coins, both for visibility and number association, a nickle is a five, five miles, feet, min, days, hours
a Georgia Qtr is .25, but it is also east WEST to GA from anywhere in SC
if someone says, "hey, bill at ITS said hi"
ITS is code for "immediate threat situation", doesn't matter what the other words are, adding ITS to the statement means there is a hidden threat right now.
if carrying a message from me to someone else or reversed, I will send along a coin, like a challenge coin
it could mean this guy brings word from me to kill this guy
in war we use baseball names or stats as word/counter word
with me it is John Wayne movies or Stephen Hunter books
Wayne died on June, 11, 1976 he was 72
The Shepherd of the Hills was 1941, The Sands of Iwo Jima was 1949, his first recognized movie was, Brown of Harvard in 1929, Stagecoach was in 1939, everYone knows the "Ringo Kid", but his name was David, Angel and the Bad Man was in 1947, John Wayne played QUIRT EVANS, Gail Russell as Penelope Worth l (I sometimes use as "penny nail" because people remember it better)
Harry Carey as Marshal Wistful McClintock - if you don't know who Harry Carey was just stop readin' now
Red River was 1948, John Wayne as Thomas Dunson and Montgomery Clift as Matthew "Matt" Garth, Walter Brennan as as Nadine Groot, Joanne Dru as Tess Millay, John Ireland as Cherry Valance, Noah Beery Jr. as Buster McGee, Chief Yowlachie as Two Jaw Quo Paul Fix as Teeler Yacey (Dunson Wrangler)
With those names and dates you can communicate with an entire army
1st Marine Recon Batt is in the 1st Marine Division right? Not when I was in it. 1st recon was 3 Marine fleet, so you have to be careful with that THEN VS NOW
They remade Stagecoach, some people think the Ringo Kid was Johnny Cash instead of John Wayne and worse the guy they think was Johnny Cash was Kris Kristofferson (Cash was the Sheriff)
and you are right it doesn't matter until you are trying to match answers with codes
Everyone has a BIBLE. Code references to specific words for a message. Use verse and chapter for feet and inches. West of Jericho, East of the river Jordan
Everything can be a code if you like the subject and train some first
Reacher says use two digit prime numbers or the number whose square root is the sum of the digits
His PIN is
THE NEAREST PRIME NUMBER TO HIS BD WRITTEN OUT OR THE SQ ROOT ROUNDED TO 3 PLACES, IGNORE THE DECIMAL POINT GIVES 6 UNIQUE NUMBERS

Best line in the whole post and ain't it the truth.
"Harry Carey as Marshal Wistful McClintock - if you don't know who Harry Carey was just stop readin' now."

You might remember him in 1935's "Last of the Clintons", as Trigger Carson? NO!
I bet I could use just John Wayne movies and write a series of "prophecies" like Nostradamus, only finding my answers would be easier
