Boy did it feel good to get out for a bit, need to do more of this before the bug and hot weather season hits. It was a nice cool day low 30s high 20s with no wind, just how i like it. The wind can make or break a good day spent in the woods. It's still very wet around here, all the rivers still above flood stage and most of my camping spots are under water. It's always a good idea to have bug out locations in both high and low ground. I do prefer the flood plain as most people over look it and the owners don't really give a hoot as to what you do on it. No fancy fire starting just a flick of the Bic is all it took, no paper, no firestarters, no wax, or gasoline. When you know what your doing and how to build a fire...it's just that easy. Take away the Bic or matches and it becomes more of a challenge to get that fire started...enjoy the video

Well this time the warm temps saved our a$$...we'd of been buried in feet of snow..that's for sure. More warm weather coming middle of the week, back in the 50s...very odd indeed. Getting back out today and hope to try some bennock camp fire bread...something different to try.

That place is surely rich in fire making material. I tell ya OT I really am enjoying these vids lately. With my current life with my mom, I have to live vicariously through you and other outdoor videos. Someday I'll be back out there....

there's 2 camp grounds within half hour of me..the one furthest from me,is my favorite one..in which i normally go with a camp site with no electric..and i have to walk, just to get water for cooking and all..

I'm very lucky in my location as you don't need to use a campground just to spend a few hours or days with a campfire. I've spent most my life hiking Ohio's forgotten off the trail places. Over the years i've learned where i can and can't camp and have a fire.

Good days for you OT. I'm lucky in that at Camp David I can get back in my woods, away from anyone and camp and build a fire and hike. Got some really deep ravines at the back of my property though. It's only 11 acres but it sure is nice.
