Here's a video showing how to make a simple crawfish trap utilizing small pieces of wire meshing you may find. Remember, if the scrap pieces are small they can be joined together to accomplish making the trap to provide yourself with food or even to use as bait. www.youtube.com/watch?v=S8H7hxnWnKg&feature=related

Good stuff cjl you can also take some chicken wire and smash it into a ball. make sure you leave it lose enough for fish and crawdads to make there way in side the ball of chicken wire. Load it with some food first then forum the wire around it. Fish will work there way in to the wire but will not be able to back out. You can catch many fish at one time.

Thanks for the idea with the chicken wire, whatever works I say. I like the design of this one 'cause with the ramp it seems crawfish, fish, crabs and turtles could be caught with it. That's fixings for a gumbo!

Dink and orly, the pattern is so simple you can't miss putting one together. You may not catch a cageful each time but whatever is caught can be used along with other ingredients to cook a complete meal. Plus leftover shells, even boiled, contain enough meat scraps to use as bait in the trap to lure other creatures.
