How many people can say they started a camp fire from 10 feet away. I like it so much the next time i try this method. I'm going to stack kindling and fire wood so i can sit back and watch it catch and burn all on it's own. The key factor in this type of fire is wind, without a slight breeze you'll be siting a waiting a very long time. Ingredients for a self starting fire...sunshine, fresnel lens, punkwood, grass tinder bundle, and some wind...that's it. I must say i like this self starting fire almost as much as my first bowdrill fire...it's awesome. Just call me the Ron popeil of fire making...just set it and forget it lol

So the next step would be make your fire bed up and hang that lens where it would just shine on the pile and catch it up while you were doing other things....
Lazy man fire making.....lol
Thanks for the vid OT....

Might as well go ahead and have your fire laid, lens set to capture the sun at 8:30 AM, have your coffee pot rest on the grill over the fire, so when you wake up your coffee is ready. Next they'll want an automatic flushing toilet. Lol
Good job OT

OT you just know we can be tough as nails and soft as butter when the time warrants us to be. However, our brains have been drilled over the years to think out of the box. Plus, I'm always ready to add some humor too, after all laughter is the best medicine. PS: I've been trying to locate your Youtube video on braiding two strand rope. Sadly I forgot how it's done.
