I've got a 20 yr old AR7 not impressed the front sight fits very loose needs to be taped in place, can't epoxy it I place because the storage in the butt stock won't accept it. Hopefully the newer versions have addressed that problem. My replacement compact survival firearm is KelTec Sub 2000 .40 cal, accurate, dependable, compact and its magazines also fit my pistol.

some are crap, some not
I always buff up the actions, triggers and feed ramps on every thing
The biggest help for AR7 was keeping that plastic mag feed/guide smooth and not beating up the metal mag lips
since they came out with the take down 10/22 the AR7 is mostly history.
I did notice yesterday I am missing about 10 20 round 7.62x39 mags which I probably put loaded in caches but I don't remember taking them all. There should have been 2 20 and 2 30 round mags in the house AK case, but I only had the 2 30 round in the safe. So I guess I better order some more then as soon as they come I will find the others and have too many (wait I can't have too many)
That orange plastic front sight was always crap. I had carved one from wood and painted it with glow -n- the dark green and it worked ok but I like the red dot much better. Cant put it in the butt stock but it comes on and off easy and I store it with it.

since they came out with the take down 10/22 the AR7 is mostly history. Having tried out the takedown 10/22 the only way I see myself having an AR7 is if it was a gift. Between the TD 10/22 still being nice and accurate and the carrying case making for a short term BOB I think it's going to be a hard product to beat for awhile.

We have TD 10/22's. They are hard to beat and fit well into standard bags. For that matter, we've replaced most of the standard 10/22's with them. All we have left of the fixed barrel models are SPR versions.
