Well thought I'd tell ya about something that happened Mothers Day. Most of you know my mom and I live in an apartment complex that is 55 and older. So needless to say our apt is a mini compound...lol...
So about 1 pm Sunday the water goes away. I check a couple of other buildings and they are out too. So I call the water dept and report it. They say they will get right on it. Within 20 mins or so a troubleshooter calls me and I tell him the complex appears to be off. He says ok and he'll start looking. Well turns out a vehicle hit a fire hydrant. It's on the main line and has dropped the water pressure to nothing down the line. He calls back and tells me he can fix it as soon as some help shows up. We'll took maybe an hour and a half. I actually was surprised they got it fixed that quick. Of course we end up with a boil water notice. So anyway I'm good with everything answer assume all is well. NOT....some of the residents raised holy hell with the water dept for not getting it back on faster. Said they can't go without water that long.
The water was off for about 3+ hours. Mom and I keep about 10 or so bottles of water in the fridge all the time. I have about 20 gallons of bottled water along with about 10 cases of bottled water. I mean 'cane season is right around the corner.
If this small selection of folks are stressed over 3 hours what they gonna do for 2 weeks or more. And I guess what really got to me is this....these were "seasoned" citizens....they should be the most prepared for small things like a 3 hour water outage....
Seems things will get stupid even faster than normal if a storm comes along this year....
Just making an observation....

Just because they're old doesn't mean they have common sense, ya know? I'm almost 74 and I have LOTS of water stored and rotated periodically, just like with food and toilet paper. That some of them raised hell with the water department just reflects back on them and how they were raised, or maybe their lack of experience in a hands-on trade so they'd realize how long some things take. Or maybe they're just spoiled rotten entitled little witches with a capital B.
However I am surprised that the water department doesn't have monitoring equipment that would notify them that there's a major outage, without a resident having to call them. Too bad you can't organize some sort of instruction class in basic prepping, Jimmy. Sounds to me like those folks could really use it.

I gotta say these folks live here by choice. There is no section 8 or gov asst. You live here you pay the rent. Having said that some have obviously lived the entitled life at some point.
I guess what my thoughts are, if "seasoned citizens" who have lived most of their life at this point can't figure out how to get by a 3 hr water outage, then I guess this country is in a heck of a lot worse shape the I thought it was. Which really scares me now. Most of my seasoned friends have enough common sense to pour p**s out of a boot. In this complex, not so sure...

Why would you want to pour piss out of a boot? How did the piss get in there in the first place? Whose boot is it? Is this regulated by some government agency?

Three hours! Oh my nerves! They probably only drink one bottle of water a day to begin with but jumped on the "let's see what we'll *itch about today band wagon" just because that's their norm. I'm sure they all have FB accounts which they immediately contacted their 5000 followers for them to pass the word of their misery. Next they contacted their local news media to *itch some more. Lastly they're seeking an appearance with Trump so they had their names added to the list of whiny babies just because it's their right.
