Well this past Saturday I finally got the chance to try out a couple of recent acquisitions. A new XD sub compact 45 acp and a used bull barreled Browning Buckmark.
I started out with the Buckmark. 1st round I racked in jammed. A raised eyebrow made me wonder....after making it chamber the round, it shot the rest of that magazine perfectly. I had 3 more loaded magazines. Well guess what same deal on all three. The first round in, from an open bolt will not chamber, but the following 9 rounds shoot perfectly. I suspect it's me that is the problem. Being used to the Ruger Marks the slide on the Buckmark is quite different. I'm sure I'll get it figured out. On that note I was very pleased with it. It grouped good and was smooth operating.
The XD was just awesome. Out of the box it shot X-ring on every round at 7 and 15 yards. Very controllable with full house 230 gr rounds. I love the sights. It has the red front sight with white rear sights. Visibility is beyond excellent! I'm way impressed with this weapon.
So anywho, there's my take on these two.

Try loading 1 less round in the browning, and loading off a closed bolt. Xds are pretty wonderful.

Odd, my buckmark has not had an issue before 3-400 rounds of fouling

Long on mark IIs, had a buckmark, traded it on another mark II. The ruger just felt better in my hands.

Well just what redneckidokie said. All 4 magazines reduced to 9 rounds works perfectly. Put that 10th round in and no workie.
I like my Marks. I know the 3 had some issues but mine has worked flawlessly. Ruger has just got stupid on their $$$ 5.5" bull barreled target model is $500. I bought the Buckmark used for $225.
