All right my wash, this time just 10# of sugar, yeast, and a yeast activator, and 1 1/2 gallons of water mixed well and allowed to set at 78 degrees for 10 days.
Now I added the first of two parts of clarifier. The first is stired in and sets for 1/2 hour. It attaches to the left over suspended yeast.
Part B then gets stired in and after an hour it pushes all of the suspended gunk to the bottom of the bucket. The top 2/3 of the bucket will be clear liquid and the bottom 1/3 gunk.
I am taking pictures.
I will use a water distiller that distills a gallon of water in 3 hours with pressurized heat. Foaming and/or boiling of the water during this process can cause problems so I add a small amount of anti-foam and I have some ceramic beads in the distiller.
The process will evaporate the alcohol out of the mixture and it will run into a bucket that drains through charcoal into another catch bucket.
I throw away the first shot glass and will have 750 ML of 40% alcohol. I will add that to the remaining unprocessed wash and rerun the distill process another 3 hours and acquire 750 ML of 70% alcohol which I will use to make 2 gallons of apple pie.
Pics to follow when process is done.
