I recently brought in some pinto beans that have been stored for three years in one of those "WATER BRICKS" www.waterbrick.org/shop/the more I use them the more I like them, but they have gone up a bit since I bought my first dozen. These beans did just like always when soaked over night but when put to a boil they would not get soft at all I don't know what causes it, but I run across it a few times a year After cooking them 4 hours with no results I tried something I heard somewhere, maybe here any way I put 2# of the 3# into the slow cooker and added two teaspoons of baking soda to them I didn't add any baking soda to the 1# left on the stove In an hour the beans with the baking soda were ready to eat, while the ones on the stove were still hard I don't know why the baking soda works either but the beans were fine

I still got my other eye
improvise adapt and overcome
I'm sure it looks silly setting in front of my computer with reading glasses with the left lens gone and a black patch
my right eye is 20/20 but to read I need glasses with it
my reading glasses just have glass in the left since my left eye is my close in or reading eye
just putting the glasses on wasn't enough, I had to take the lens out and I had to put the black patch on becaause the eye tries to focus
time to go to the surgeon
