A basic Chicken Mull Recipe is Chicken, Broth, Butter, Milk and Ritz Crackers or whatever kind you like
Pappy "Kicked it up" a bit and as I remember it was deeelicious . . . an ultimate comfort food. Never been able to make it as good as his. The directions are a bit skimpish. You just had to be there and watch him cook it.
Title: Pappy's Chicken Soup (He called it a Mull) Chapter: Chicken/Turkey
5 fryers 4 c water chestnuts drained 2 c bamboo shoots drained 1 can bean sprouts drained 4 stalks celery 2 big onions 1 can peas (sweet peas?) 6 carrots 1/2 pkg Limas 1 whole cauliflower 1 lb mushrooms 1 lg. jar pimentos 4 cans shoepeg white corn 1 can cream of mushroom soup 1 can cream of chicken soup
2-3 cloves garlic if desired.
Cut up fryers and place in pot. Cover with water and cook till tender. Cook onions, celery and carrots in some broth til almost tender. Mix 2 cans soup with some broth and add caulflower to broth and cook about 5 minutes. Add onion celery carrots and cook about 15 minutes. Big pot was about 1/4 full of broth.
Everything went through a blender 'cause the grandkids wouldn't eat certain things. As long as they didn't know it was in there they gobbled it down.
