Remember those who had the courage and conviction to do the impossible and took part in the greatest/largest single most recognized military effort in modern times, and then did it.
None of the planned accomplishments were successful on the first day, none. It took a month, the entire month of June of 1944 to establish a beachhead 60 miles long and 15 miles deep.
But 800,000+ troops followed the 150,000 into France and then into Europe to liberate a Continent.
When the allies succeeded at Normandy they knew they were going to win the war.
2 billion people were involved in WWII and up to 85 million died, in the worst cases 25% of the population of an entire country.
Think of it as 1 out of every 4 people you know gone
It had to be stopped and D DAY 6/6/44 was the beginning of the end, with the largest seaborne invasion in history.

An amazing feat by amazing folks. Truly an incredible undertaking. The courage of these military folks was staggering. Too bad so many under thirty have no concept of the sacrifice given so they can have their cushy lifestyles today.

If we could solve the pay and health care issues, then I think all high school grads go to the military for 2 years and make most of it training, then everyone who doesn't want to stay can go to school but in a reserve capacity for a min stint and reserves get two weeks training, twice a year. whomever wants to stay in the military start processing on the job assignments.
then with 4 years they leave to continue school or life but as a reserve
and so on and so on, exceptions of course
military college gets paid by goberment, civilian college racks up loans and scholarship to pay back
then fix the dependents issue special rules for marriage and kids, the goal to have military discourage any dependents with a 5 year hitch.
