This is just what I need, one we’ve moved and can take the time, finally, to catch up on this part of my preps!
The house sale is a GO! Hallelujah!

Thanks Mr.Z. I've been inactive as a ham now for about 6-8 months . . . other interests. Got to get back working the rigs. I'm in a valley and hitting local repeaters is on and off. Mostly limited to HF transmission and check-ins. Also very limited because of my hearing loss. The old saying is so true, "A ham operator has to be able to hear a rat fart in a hurricane." Good info. Gotta crank up the radios.

I've a friend in Winnipeg who can hardly wait for us to get moved already so we can communicate via radio. Like you, Geron, we're between hills here, but the prairies are calling!

Thanks! I got my tech and then general this fall. I've only been on once to check in at a net and say Hi.
After all that work to pass tests I barely have an idea what to do. I haven't had much free time in the last couple of years. Plus the radios are in DH's office so he's in there working most of the time I'm home.

like anything else practice is required
having it and not knowing how to use it or being "comfortable" with it can be as bad as not having it when you suddenly need it.
Just today there is a story of a 3 year old saving her Father or Grandfather when they had a stroke, using facebook. Letting a 3 year old get familiar enough with social media to do it her self saved a life.

Woodyz, you reminded me of the day we decided to teach Ceorlmann how to use the VCR properly rather than risk him loading it with a sandwich or something even worse, lol!

I can laugh about it now, but at the time, it wouldn’t have been funny. I’m still glad I taught the boys to NOT do anything like that.
