Howdy people hope everyone is happy & healthy or at least content with life. Anyhow a while back I was messing with the Shepard's sling then after some testing I decided it was not suitable for hunting or as a weapon. Since then I've made some new slings and having practice once a day has changed my opinion on the sling as a weapon. It's now possible for me to hit my target area once out of five throws, that might seen low odds but I'm getting better each day. The target is 25 to 30 ft away and not much bigger then a dinner plate, as my skill increases the distance will increase as well. The secret to accuracy with the Shepard's sling is practice, body aliment, and finding your natural release point then making adjustments to the target. Not sure i remember how to post photos but will give it a try...my favorite sling is the split pouch... it's adjustable to different size rocks.

I really tried hard a few years ago to make one work
I guess my release was the problem, always going up instead of forward
Once I could hit the side of a barn when I was in it, I figured that was as good as I was gonna' get so I quit trying.
good for you

I watched many more video this past week on slinging and believe I've found my perfect release position...will post more later.

Baah! Fishing!
took the wife and went out and got skunked, did find a good place to put the canoe in, but didn't have it with us, too hot I think and I'm not doing night fishing any more at my age unless its on the boat on a crappie bed.

Happens to me as well you can't catch em all the time guess that's why they call it fishing and not catching :-)
