I know there are some here who've learned the hard way that prepping financially is a good idea. Recent circumstances has reinforced this necessity to me.
We survived this last year by coming into it debt free and having planned for an unknown. So far, we've managed to remain above water and debt free without selling land or other significant tangible. Between food, financial, and insurance preps, that trap never had a chance to spring.
However, our preps did take a significant hit in usage. It occured to me that the margin was not as wide as I'd intended it to be. We planned for a lot of things, but the potential for being paraplegic wasn't one of them.
The upside is, we've learned. Unless you intend to leave injured loved ones behind when SHTF, such things should be accounted for in your planning. It's just one medical problem away from you at any given time.
Food for thought.

Good advice for everyone, prepper or not. It's so good to have you back again and giving us stuff to think about, CWI.

Your advice is well taken. We can't predict the future in regards to our health or those of a loved one and what we'd do in such a predicament.
People have drained their lifetime savings seeking the miracle to save a sickly family member. I'm aware of people who have hit rock bottom selling off all their assets to the point of being homeless to save a loved one. We'd all do the same thing for a spouse or one of our kids.
Glad to have you back and your post is really an eye opener.
