Somehow or other, I have convinced the Coast Guard they should let me have a bit more money and bling so, the went ahead and made me a Senior Chief (select)! On January first, I can drop the "select" part and it will be official. This is really good timing since I'm being deployed soon. More to come later on that...

Man that’s outstanding. Way to go. Although that deployed thing sounds scary. Or maybe not.

Man that’s outstanding. Way to go. Although that deployed thing sounds scary. Or maybe not. Not scary at all Capt'n. I'll be deployed for a year, heading to east coast for a bit then off to another adventure! What does suck is that this is an unaccompanied tour and will miss my family terribly . I'll share more about it all down the road but know this is a good deal for the long run and I have a lot of support going in.

Thanks everyone. To be honest, it's been a bit overwhelming the past couple days. I am leaving home around beginning of February and the unit I'm hooking up with is super pumped about me making grade. The CO there is a friend of mine (he was my JG when I came in as a know nothing E4.) He was pretty excited to be deploying with another E8 and threw a bunch of training options at me and channels I could take to further my position. It's all good stuff, just gonna take me a bit to take it all in and fill these bigger shoes. My current LT is awesomeness and I hate leaving her supervision. She is hands down the single best LT I've seen in 15 years. But, I have her full support across the deck as she has mine. It will all work out and after a few deep breaths it will come clear.

That's the thing I love most about being a USMC musician. It's a small enough job field that everybody knows everybody especially when you've got multiple units under your belt, and the supervisors who respect you as you do them are always a phone call away if you need their advice. Sounds like your current LT is like that.
