I have been a "Morel" fan/eater as long as I can remember, my Mother would take us hunting for them every spring in KS, but lately and here in SC I have been late or didn't know any places to go
Today we went down the hill to the chicken building to salvage a couple of light switches my Son wanted for the shop
I wasn't even hunting them but always look around me for snakes, etc.
I had a WALMART bag I found down there but had to send to the house for another
there must be 5# or more of them
I pan fried a mess of them right away and have the rest soaking in salt(light) water
Tomorrow I will make a batter and deep fry the rest

SO Good, both ways
theses were just next to a tree that fell across one of my compost heaps
Fell kinda North to South with rooms to the West (hot but shaded side
which is weird because I have found more on the South side of East to West falls
also the tree might have been an ASH, but I think it was a hickory, I' will wait for new growth to be sure
