beerjerk, please dont forget the camera and take plenty of pics. I bet members would like to see pics and read on how the trip worked out for you.

carry one of those little school pencil/crayon sharpeners with your pencil and you will always have tender to make a fire.
I also like to carry one of those lumber markers in bright red. Use it to mark my trail if I have someone coming behind me. They are not permanent so you don't leave graffiti, but the rain won't wash it right off either.
Some times we just use it at a rally point to let anyone we are expecting know we were there but left. Have a simple code for who and where we went.

I was just going to say a pen/pencil and paper. I always have a little pad and pencil with me. I have a small journal I write in, which I'm bringing along to record thoughts and experiences
