I have a small catch of these in my go bag.
I do not plan to "go" any where, due to age and health, but I do maintain bags in my house and in my vehicles that keep items in one place for quick access.
I carry a case or 20 16 oz bottles of water in my trunk or truck box, that I change out monthly, and I still have catches buried in "elevated" beds/planters that I can access quickly.
I still maintain a remote living location where I have food/water/tools/etc stored, but getting there would be an issue for me now.
My Son knows where it is, but I am not sure he undertands "why" it is there.
There is a close and a far (15 miles") location(s) both off the grid, both stocked, both remote, there are stores of buried catches that I don't even remember where they all are.
I had not been to the chicken house for several years and we were looking at it to see what needs done to raise chickens again this coming spring and I remembered a 50 gallon plastic barrel was buried down there as a "hide" because we planted a tree over it and we were considering the space to build a new chicken house/run. t he barrel and lid are there and in good shape the metal ring holding the lid was rusted. There were several 50 gallon and 7 gallon plastic barrels buried down there, some with "stuff" in them that are more than likely still good. Those plastic barrels last forever and the lids overlap the side about 3" and the dirt/sand on top keeps the lid down tight. I put rice in them that absorbs the condensation which is very little. I got ammo that was fine from one I know was there 3 years before I reopened it, but again there are one I don't remember are there unless i see something that reminds me.
But I do remember I used 7 or 11 for paces off of buildings/cornors or trees or something that will be there, so there are less empty holes to dig.
