MOM is still alive she will be 85 in June, she lives with my Sister in KS, 2 brothers died last of April I think it was last year, anyway she hates April and feels alone. So Mom fell yesterday and when to the hospital for a broken hip.
Turns out to be a broken femur not hip so 3 hours in surgery and a rod and plate put in. She needs to stay 3 days then go to a rehab.
But Mom is 84 and has not understood anything for many years, Dementia/Alzheimer’s, whatever, she has to have things reexplained to her and she still will ask again, I have talked with her on the phone about the same events over and over, not sure she knows who I even am.
So she is pulling out the IV, has to be tied down, doesn't know where she is or why, it must be a mess.
I just flat could not survive a trip that far and don't think it would make a difference with her any way, it would help my Sister for me to show up, but it's just not to be.
I think it's been a couple of years ago we changed out the well pump and put in an AC/DC pump so we could use solar panels and batteries to run the well. Then we started catching rain water into barrels then into two cisterns and ran water lines from the cisterns to our none drinking water requirements.
We were in a drought when our pump went out, but we have had plenty of rain since.
Well yesterday the well pump went out again, there is power at the well head and power to the pressure tank, the pump just won't run, so we have bought a new pump and will pull the well this weekend. No more solar, just back to a straight well system for drinking water. We still have the non drinking water system working, so we can flush the toilets, take showers, etc.
We are boiling the non drinking water for washing dishes and cooking, but won't have drinking water from the facet until after this weekend. It's a hassle but not a disaster. I had five water bricks of drinking water, I think they hold 20 gallons each, and we can refill them at friends house, so we will get through it ok.
No cv-19 at our house or anything else. I'm still a type 2 diabetic and son is a type 1 but shots and finger sticks have become routine. I still shoot my pistols at least 100 rounds a week and the rifles 50 rounds a week. I still reload 9 MM, .243, .308 and 7.62 x 39
I do have an infected tooth, they said needs pulled, but our Gov has stopped all tooth pulling for now, so am taking antibiotics with a scheduled extraction for next month. Of course since I had a Brother die from an infected tooth my wife insisted I go to the dentist, which I did to get the antibiotics, not doing any pain meds just orajel.
