This is the bivy, not the bag, bivy is bigger size, heavier material and still packs away to a small size. I put a sleep sack in the bivy and use it like a sleeping bag, works good in hotels where a sleeping bag would be too hot.

Topographical Map of the area with places of "opportunity" marked, tractor supply, vet, survival caches, etc. My survival caches are hard to find, even with a map, maybe in the trunk of a wrecked car, up a tree, underwater, a few are buried. If it has a handgun it will be a 9mm hi-point or a Pheonix HP 22, nothing I couldn't lose. I do have some 7.62×39mm rifles cached, but they won't be found unless someone knows they are there. I retrieved one that had been cached 5 years and it fired first time and every time.

yeah the hi-point is ugly too. But I can get them for under $200. and they go bang every time too.

I have used the "Vapor Corrosion Inhibiting bags", but I didn't like them. I just coat the gun in cosmoline or grease and put it in a bag until I'm done with caching then use a spray can type cleaner to spray them off and clean them before use.

One complete change of cloths, one change of socks, one hoodie windbreaker.

My bug-out bag weights about 2 lbs and I use a Vacuum Sealer to make tight little waterproof packages out of anything I can squeeze down.

Oh and a stainless cup like this one. The folding handles don't get hot even when the water in the cup is boiling.

Why the heavy tin foil around the gill net?

I have had just folded tin foil, but I had to put something around the gill net to keep its shape and keep other things from getting stuck in the net.

I love my gill net, but remember they are illegal in most places, most of the time. But in a survival situation they can be the best way to catch the most fish.

I was thinking that was what you were doing. do you have a particular gill net that you like?

I have had it so long I don't remember a brand name, just that is 1" triangles so smaller fish just swim through, it is made from material just like fishing line so I can just use fishing line if I need to repair it.

It has a cord on top that has cork floats spaced about 1' apart, I can repair/replace it with jute/para cord or even a ski rope if need be. The cork floats have 1/2 holes in them and just slide on to whatever I use for rope. It's only about 8" tall/wide so I can set it high or low and not block the traffic. Its 12' long, so I can double it over itself or stretch it across an en lite, the bottom has jute/para cord ropes every 6" and I just feed the line/rope through a sinker or tie it to a brick or something and adjust the length so its weighted to the bottom of the body of water.

I can put it on the top or set it deeper so boats can even run over it and not get in it. Sometimes I'll set it up near where I set a trot line, to catch the fish like Alligator Gar who eat the bait off the trotline but might not get hooked.

And sometimes if someone else is running my trotline I set one so their propeller gets tangled in it because they don't know where it is. Sometimes it's the best you can do, if I caught them running my trotline I could/would shoot a hole in their boat. Wouldn't be the first time either, just saying

There is like a titanium cup like maybe 10 cups with wrap around handles that unwrap and don't conduct heat, too. I use it to collect water, boil water, cook food, etc., there are also two MRE meals and some extra's I like from MRE'S.

Man this is becoming a non-finished thread in a hurry. Not to go through my bag, but to post.

I have a very good fashlight, about 5 1/2" long, freeze it, put it underwater, run over it with the truck, etc., can scope out to a spotlight, very bright, the strobe function, for blinding/disorienting, two lens, a white and a red, just change the front. extra rechargeable batteries. I have a headlamp on a elastic band that fits around my head.

A spare MORA companion knife. I cary one one my hip and a spare in each kit.

A water bottle, metal one with a single wall only, a plastic one that nests in my metal cup.

A a tactical pen, use it like a Kubotan.

Survival Whistle, mine has a compass, it unscrews to a hollow compartment where I store water/wind proof matches.
