So I just want to re-visit the fact that I carry an M9 semi-auto with a LCR 9mm revolver as a back-up in an ankle holster, not because I will need the extra six shots, I carry two extra mags for the m9, that's 46 shots, yes I know they make a 30 round magazine and and 17 round magazines, I have both, but I carry with 15 round magazines because that's what my carry was made for, I have never had the M9 fail to function on me, but it could, so I have a revolver as a back-up.
When I carried a 1911, I carried a 9mm as a back-up, still do sometimes, but I like/prefer having the same caliber most of the time, if I can. But I do like the way the Star 9mm feels/shoots, I have had mine since the 70's, have changed my .45's many times, but never the Star.
But I digress, the point of this post is the Ruger LCR which they now have in a .22 Winchester Magnum Rimfire(WMR, since 2003, Which I think was a great idea, so I bought one. I have shot it more than 200 times, the WMR is expensive and, though it has a very short barrel, it has stayed shooting in the same place, longer than I have stayed able to shoot it in the same place. In fact the WMR is much more accurate then the 9mm LCR and the .22lr LCR, maybe due to the weight of the bullet.
I don't think I would buy it in WMR again, but I like having it in 9mm.
I will say I do like the WMR, but in a Henry Lever Action Octagon Frontier with a 20" , not that -2" barrel, I wish I had got the 24", but at the time I thought the shorter barrel would suit me better.

How do you like working with moon clips, any problems? I've just never been comfortable them, but that is not based on experience. I'm a 9mm guy but my wife and I have LCR-357s for compact carry.

Lc9 is my pocket gun - I had a flat black parkerized finish put on the exposed metal... To help with rust issues from sweating on a daily basis right after I bought it. It is not a long range shooter but inside of 30', I will hit where I want with no issues.

I have come close to buying an LC9 or EC9 a couple of times. They would be my choice for a compact pocket gun, but I was given a little Taurus TCP that has been reliable - but I just wouldn't trust my life with it!
I don't feel strongly about striker fired vs concealed hammer fired.

My LC9 has always had a dark parkerized type finish, black "oxide", I carry in an IWB "uncle mikes" or "Blackhalk" type holster, not just the "bare" pistol, so I have never had an issue with rust, I too think inside 25 or 30 feet I hit where I want and the Hornady Critical Defense Ammunition, I'm loaded with will stop my target.
I can agree the 9mm is not a .45, but it's easier to carry and with shot placement factored in, it works for me.

I have used moon clips, I didn't/don't like them, I don't carry them, just the revolver . The 9mm can be a hard round to load into a revolver, rimless cartridges, you must do it right, but like everything else it's all about practice.
So I was proof reading this and got the revolver out and was looking at it and guess what, I have a moon clip, a RIMZ EZ, in the revolver that I use every time I load it, that's why it's harder to load, that's why it take's practice, I'm so stupid these days, if You had asked me about that even last year, I think I would have picked up on it, but now I get a busy signal if I don't proof read and/or look at what I am talking about. When I remembered loading it, I remembered needing to "adjust" a metal plate around the 9mm cartridge, that I don't have to do on other revolvers I have.
Just goes to show how bad my memory is getting and hot infrequently I use the 9mm revolver.
I was thinking about "speed-loaders" I guess, so, I don't use speed loaders, I do use moon-clips, or a moon clip, I don't like them/it, but I figure it is part of the process to use a 9mm, rimless cartridge, revolver and I want my back-up to use the same caliber, I just load it and put it into my ankle holster, I don't figure to ever have to re-load it, but I know I could if I had to.
I find myself just forgetting what the name of something is or what it is called and just stopping my conversation, makes my Wife mad, she has had to deal with Alzheimer's in her family and see's it coming, my Mother has it and doesn't even know who I am any more. I am glad she is younger in her mind then I am and that she still has many years left, I know I don't and I know she won't like it but I am glad she will still be around for awhile.
Trace Adkins - The Rest Of Mine
"There's no guarantee that we'll see tomorrow Heaven only knows how long we have So there's no way I'll ever for one second let you wonder Just how long my love for you will last
'Til my last breath, 'til I'm called on high 'Til the angels come and I see the light To the very end, 'til I give in To the last beat of my heart No I can't swear that I'll be here for the rest of your life But I swear I'll love you for the rest of mine"

I do not really like the heavy trigger pull on a hidden hammer gun but, I can carry this all day anywhere I want with no one being aware that I have it.. Unless someone pats me down there is very few that would notice I have this on my person.. In the last 5-6 years no one has ever noticed it....If I ever need it I am pretty certain it will be up close and personal. Aiming and trigger pull won't be much of a factor in that case. I have the same ammo in my Lc9 as Woodyz, I don't care who or how big - in an ankle or knee joint they will not be chasing you.

It really has its own attraction because it just so darned small and slim!
After some backyard tests on 2x4 and 4x4 lumber up close, I switched to Buffalo Bore standard pressure hard cast. It feeds perfectly and gives me strong penetration which is my biggest concern with a subsonic 90-100gr projectile.

I am very picky about triggers when I practice, especially at longer ranges. BUT I completely agree with you - with adrenaline pumping my fine motor skills will be trash and the trigger weight, break point and pull/reset distance will go unnoticed anyway! (What trigger? )
At this point, I'm a hammer fired SA/DA with manual safety guy. Think CZ. My 9's have the safety operate the same way and it has become totally automatic to flip it off when picking up any of my pistols.

Unfortunately here at work with the covid and the idiocy of the town council declaring mandatory masks it has become totally automatic for me to flip off folks too. Just sayin.

For Thywar!
He is anything but short and fat - it's about his choice of ammo!
.44 mag or stay home! (Actually, I'm a 9mm/.357 guy but I could not resist )

Lol. I’m not short at all. 5’15”. The fat thing? Not really but I’ve got 20 lbs I can share. .45 is one of my options. In America today fat and slow is half the population.
