Doing the water brick post reminded me of my water bottles.
I used to use the food grade BPA proof plastic bottles but I went to the stainless ones so I can boil water right in the water bottle if need be. I still use the plastic bottles for survival gear, but my carry water is in stainless. I have both in CONDOR MOLLE H2O pouches in my backpack I use as my primary go bag. I like the pouches because they make the water easy to find and they have a pocket that will hold a dis-assembled MRE, A FIRE STEEL, a plastic spoon AND A LIFESTRAW in each one.

although I prefer the Mountainhouse MRE over the military ones, I just add boiling water and eat it out of the pouch. I get to pick my meals, I never use all the other stuff in the military ones, I do have some of the heaters for when I want to boil water without a fire.

I like the Beef Stroganoff, the Chicken and Dumplings, Biscuits and Gravy, I don't like their egg dishes, but that's just my taste. I can get a dbl portion of just what I like in a usable pouch for about $5, which would be too expensive to just eat, but is great as survival food
I also carry several of these food bars in my go bag, they do not taste as good as they say but they are eatable, do last five years and are small and light weight for the use.
