So how did everyone make out with covid this last year? My family had no issues but we pretty much stayed hunkered down all year. We got the moderna shots and went to our first outdoor festival yesterday. My wife and I still wore our masks. We saw 4 other people wearing masks. The SIL had several people get COVID at their Church and a couple of those passed away.
I guess that since they have removed the mask recommendation, I am going to wait a couple of weeks to see if there is an uptick in cases before I stop wearing my mask. How does everyone else feel?

This sounds crazy but Covid didn't hurt us like a lot of people. I have been working from home for a few years before covid. I've been homeschooling for almost 10 years- so no change there either. I have had more job offers last year than ever before (at one point I was working 3 jobs) My state only shut down for 3-4 weeks but the only ones that complied were the government offices, salons and gyms. Most others stayed open especially the small businesses. We are almost completely out of debt because of covid. It has been a crazy year for sure.

I wore a mask for a while and used sanitizer. I quit wearing a mask long before recommendation by CDC. Most of the locals here never wore them at all. Everything stayed open except fast foods and they were drive through only. Wife and I got the moderna vac but I always get a flu vac. One family member (grandson in law) contracted the virus but symptoms were extremely mild. I'm borderline conspiracy theorist on this one. I need a another cup of coffee .

At first I thought it might be the zombie apocalypse. Now that I'm reading more about it I'm parked in the conspiracy theory camp. lol They switch out the rules to suit their agenda. Lots of things don't make sense to me. I've been exposed several times and never got it. DH never got it. Once I was allowed to go back to work I've been non stop busy and paid off the house in Dec.

I was very cautious/careful/nervous last Spring/Summer but it turned out to be a non-issue around here. Going back to the very beginning, the TOTAL number of confirmed cases near me. - Caney City - 1 case, 0 deaths (Closest to my home) - Log Cabin - 10 cases, 0 deaths (My route to work) - Payne Springs - 5 cases, 0 deaths (Where my business is)
I am NOT saying that it cannot kill people because it has. BUT not in anywhere near the numbers that they are/were force-feeding us.
There is and has been a BIG impact on my business because I deal worldwide, but not for family and friends. Yes, I have friends and family who tested positive, but only one exhibited enough symptoms to visit her doctor. The other eight were largely asymptomatic.
I have only worn a mask around 15-20 times total in the last year when I was forced to, because they just never caught on locally. Sure, the mandated signs went up but even store employees wore them in "chin warmer" mode.

Food for thought: www.usatoday.com/story/news/health/2021/01/11/amid-coronavirus-flu-cases-record-low/4127197001/As COVID-19 raged last year, the seasonal flu all but vanished, according to data from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. During the 2019 flu season from Sept. 29 to Dec. 28, the CDC reported more than 65,000 cases of influenza nationwide. During the same period this flu season, the agency reported 1,016 cases. I simply can not follow their logic... I started off some what concerned but never wore the mask by choice(and rather quickly flat refused) or took it as a serious means of stopping me from catching the bug. I did retrain myself from touching my face etc.. and wash my hands more then normal... I and all of the family and friends have been fine... I have zero interested in taking any shots by the way and strongly discourage others based on the HUGE #s of issues I have seen reported... I also refuse to take a flue shot so that just me for what its worth...

I work in a hospital. It started slow. Then it slammed us. We had as many as 12-14 patients at the same time. Whole county is on 24,000 so... we initially had an outside screening tent. Then just temped everyone. No elective tests or surgery. We lost $6.5 million in revenue last year. I only wear mask inside the hospital. I haven’t gotten a vaccine and have no intention of getting one. I’m required to have an annual flu shot. I did have Covid though. I went to visit a friend who had been to Texas (to get her vax) and she brought it back and she had it and gave it to me. If I had t been tested I’d never known I had it. Some fatigue, some ache but that was it. I’m sick of it, politicians, scientists, politicians and scientists. They’re bought and paid for. I’m pretty much sick of the whole government, of folks that think they have to hoard everything at the first indication. Tired of maskholes telling me what I need to do. I’ve been in four states since this started. Been tested twice. Once to see my new granddaughter and once when my friend tested positive. Pretty sure I’ll just hang in the wood shop, fire up the lathe, and keep turning. Oh and going to craft fairs to sell things.

I only just started getting the vaccine (Moderna). I waited as long as I did because 1) I wanted to take advantage of having the option to not get the vaccine as soon as it came out 2) I wanted to wait and see what adverse effects would come to those who I work with who got the vaccine as soon as it was available on base 3) only vaccinated musicians are being allowed to go outside the local area to perform, and I'm still very musically involved with my band. Also, it's probably only a matter of time before it becomes mandatory for all military personnel to get it.
Covid countermeasures put in place last year severely messed with my physical fitness ebb and flow. I'm used to certain things taking place as far as bands go depending on the time of year, and because those suddenly weren't there anymore I got out of shape (but I busted my butt to get back in shape). Wearing a mask is inconvenient; especially when my glasses go into "Fog of War" as I like to put it, but boy wearing the mask comes in handy if I don't feel like shaving one day. Fully vaccinated people don't have to wear a mask depending on where they are on base, but they need to prove they've been fully vaccinated thus their Covid card has become like their ID card in a weird sense.

Early on there were reports of nearly anything including auto accident and shooting deaths being counted as Covid. I just read that some of the guidelines were that if a person died within 28 days of having Covid it was counted as a Covid death. I may have mentioned here that am elderly lady in hospice for cancer died right on schedule from the cancer but her death certificate listed Covid because she had it months before but recovered. The family in advance told the med staff not to list cause of death as Covid but they did it anyway. I read yhey have also changed the testing so it supports the cases going down now that the experimental vaccine is out there.

So I expect I have more antibodies than vaccinated folks because I had it. I don’t know that’s fact but they shouldn’t discount those of us that had. And those pushing for having to show a vax card or ‘passport’ can KMA. I’m not now nor ever required to divulge my medical history. I’m all for those that HAVE to wear a mask for protection because of other concerns. Just keep your distance and don’t tell me your opinion on my health. What is it women killing their baby say? ‘My Body, My Choice?’

"Showing your papers" was something many of my relatives (that I never met) were required to do. I will not be complying.
