Ate a good diner and took a two hour nap.
The wife made everything herself over the last week, turkey, dressing, gravy, mashed potatoes (white and sweet potato) pie, pecan and peanut butter, green bean casserole and mac and cheese, a cherry cheesecake (my favorite) and four gallons of sweet tea(well two sweet and two not). I feel like that's not all, but its all I can remember, maybe it seems like more because she made three pies for my Sons club and one for our Grand daughters house besides the ones we have here.
She made the comment it was the first time She did it all herself, as she has always had one of the daughters or both helping her before, or we were at my Grandparents, or her's or her Mothers or mine, I don't know for sure, we will be married 50 years this year and that's been a lot of Thanksgiving diners!
She did good, I guess I will keep her!

Did Thanksgiving up ROYAL!
We had 2 full on dinners (cooked by me-- apple pie, turkey, real chestnut stuffing, Oprah Winfrey's mashed potatoes, gravy galore, raosted carrots, roasted cabbage steaks, maple syrup squash from the garden and salad) as DDs1+2 and spouses came on the 20th (one set stayed over yay!). We didn't get home from Milwaukee/inlaws on Friday 11/19 until 7 pm so Saturday was pretty rush rush but all went well and NO ONE went hungry! Then Wednesday I cooked again for taking basically whole meal to the In-laws in Milwaukee on Thanksgiving. BUT MIL did the pumpkin pie and some of her stuffing (not a fan it is basically ground pork...) my squash and on.
Had 4 -12 hour days there, then I had volunteered for our church festival/market so Black Friday at church for Mass leaft at 7am, then home at 9:15 for 1 hour then back (we are .5 hour away) set up till 5 pm, then ate/drank with DH who met me for the fun part, then to the church for a spectacular Mendelsohnn (sp?) Laudate Sion concert. Home at 10 pm. 12 hour day #5 Saturday oh my gosh. So hard but SO much fun! Worked everywhere with little kids and teens and adults from 8am until we got home at 9:15 pm. Again DH came for eating and drinking (which I did not get to doooooo). 13 hour day #6.
Today I am tired, sore and a little achy as my sinuses hurt. Our weather is so odd and is wreaking havoc with my very old body.
Anyhow, skipping everything today and going to take care of ME and watch Downton Abby (on Netflix). How was everyone else's Thanksgiving?

We don't do much for Thanksgiving since the in laws moved to AZ. I scaled waaay back on cooking. No need to cook all of that for the 2 of us. Too much work and mess. We did yard projects to get ready for winter. Just a few more things to do and xome firewood to move and then it can snow all it wants.

For buying a turkey, there was the offer of a free ham. The turkey stayed in the garage next to the ham while we went to a friend's house for dinner. This is the same friend with whom we alternate weekly dinners, the occasional breakfast, and the occasional other miscellaneous meal and have done so for well over a year now. He has a few chickens (hence the occasional breakfast, but we enjoy "breakfast" for supper, so it's really supfast or breaker). As an organist, I'm accustomed to having very few holiday traditions on the precise day of certain holidays, so timeshifting the ham was no big deal. The turkey got himself cooked because the outdoor temperatures went up and we didn't have sufficient freezer space for him. I could exist on soup "forever", and right now we're working on the dregs of the soup pot of turkey leftovers, to which I've added some pork loin leftovers. After finally having a couple of actual single-digit days, it's nice to be able to use our "external freezer" again! Anywho, with both of us on a strict keto diet, we had meat and greens, just like we do every day unless it's a fasting day.
