Excellent example for your area Will. We don't have those kind of materials in this area. Good to have that example for those in similar climates.

Excellent tutorial. We'd have to settle for pine boughs and leaves up here. Overlapped like that I'm sure the palmetto would shed water much like shingles or tiles.

You probably wouldn't need as deep of a layer either. That looks cozy and tropical! Now you just need your beverage of choice and to kick back and enjoy the project.

Very nice. Much better than the heaps of leaves we have to use here. Looks like you could almost fit a hammock in there.

I'm curious about the vines. What are they? Up here we'd be using buckthorn.

Our buckthorn seems to have the wrong name in that it has no thorns, but its tensile strength is such that it would inspire cartoonists. I have yet to see the stuff bloom. Superb at strangling trees, eventually growing as thick as my forearms, it develops similarly notorious roots. Someone who has never encountered buckthorn, expecting to extricate a 1/4" thick vine from the ground, would make an ideal subject for a funny video. The tidy lashings of the vine you used could easily be accomplished by this plant; I just don't know if it (or a relative) grows in your area.
