Got a Garmin GPSmap 60CSx what I like real well.
Picked it up at Bass Pro shop an with some instructon it's workin perty well. Like any other tool, the more ya play with it the better ya get. I like the color screen, batteries seem ta last well an ya can get different maps fer it to.

Had 2 different Garmins and then went to a Delorme and have never looked back. Lots of features and functionality , PLUS, incredible customer service from my experience. Their engineers hang out on several boards and always chime in if someone has an issue . They also use feedback from the different boards for product enhancements and bug fixes.

Would you mind letting us in on which model, price, ect... of what you have? This does sound interesting and I would like to know more. Could you pass along a link or two to those boards so that we could become more familiar with this one?

The key to any GPS is play with it and learn what it can do and you can do with it. There are some very basic ones that would be handy to have for nothing more than marking your cache or points of travel to a BOL. They are fun to play with for sure. With a solar charger and some quality batteries in your BOB, as long as we still have satellites they will be useful.

I use a PN40 which is the older model. The current model is the PN60 which goes for around $250.

Did you ever get one wtrfwlr? I got a Garmin eTrex 20 a few weeks ago that I'm learning to use quite well. No, I have looked at several that I liked but it seems as though each place I go to or even look at on line now requires MONEY in exchange for their GPS units! Thanks for the input on yours though, I will have to make sure to check that model out when I get some cash. How much was it? I appears that Garmin is the most popular according to the poll.

I got mine for $175 after a store coupon from Eastern Mountain Sports (local sports store in case you didn't guess), but they can be had from amazon for about $160. This one has the ability to add color topo maps, which can be had for free. With working 6 days a week, I haven't given it a good woods test, but it from driving around with it on, it is quite accurate. Battery is advertised on lowest screen brightness at around 25 hours and at highest screen brightness around 12-13 hours. It is ipx7 waterproof, which means it waterproof for 30 mins at 1 meter underwater. If you don't need all the fancy stuff, the lower eTrex 10 can be had for about $100 online, it only has a black and white screen, simple maps, ect.
