I'm kind of pissed , went camping today. Carried all my gear to the water, 3 trips worth. Got set up and started to fish I caught a few fish. Next I started collecting fire wood for my camp fire. A guy that was across the creek from me asked if I planed to have a fire. Yes i said well he says the park rangers been writing tickets for open camp fires. What a bunch of bull ,I got so mad that I just packed up and went home. I did manage to do a quick video so here it is

Well that just totally sucks, a true shame indeed! Still enjoyed video and pics. Thanks that made me feel better :)Thing is i wasn't in a state park to begin with and been having fires there for years. Is it to much to ask to be left alone.....one of these days.

that is what they say but if they don't leave you alone then you might as well be at work. One of these days I just might grab one of them rent a ranger by the throat. We just don't need them, we have game wardens that do a dam good job and have better sense. Park rangers here just drive from parking lot to parking lot giving tickets but rarely get there shoes dirty. Just a dam waste of money if you ask me. Not a happy camper but ill get over it

The only place around here that I can have an open fire is my own yard. Even then, I've no doubt that if the local gendarmes happened to pass through, they might have something to say. For that reason, I keep the fires in the kettle when at home.

You can't blame them for not wanting black "rings" everywhere. I know 99% of people would leave no trace, but there's always the idiots who ruin it for everyone else.

True enough, but around here, they're claiming drought and have effectively put the kibosh on campfires. In our park, fires were always by permit only. With the drought, permits aren't going to be issued, so no campfires.

Going camping again tomorrow but much deeper in the woods and a better place.

We've had some rain in North Florida over the last week to 10 days. Before that we were (and probably still are) in drought conditions. There was a burn ban in effect, so no open fires. There were still 39 wildfires burning in the area (several still are). Not sure if you are experiencing those conditions, but sometimes there is a valid reason for what seems stupid or "just another thing".

But not that bad and everything is green, it has nothing to do with a burn ban and more to do with it's proximity to the bike trail. That's it in a nut shell

Not sure where you live but in my area your lucky to find a place that isn't full of trash, that's what bothers me. Walking up on a old camp fire pit don't bother me in the least and most are used over and over. it's hard for you all to understand this situation . if it was as easy as a burn ban no problem, or leaving scorched earth that some think is a eye sore. No nothing like that they are just being unreasonable. We got a big problem with trash around here and they do nothing about it. It's much easier to write a ticket for a camp fire then it is to spend some time catching someone that litters. And there are no signs what so ever stating no camp fires.
