Ok so today, I have a woman friend come over cause she just bought a new 3'' 38 special revolver and she doesn't know how to shoot or operate it. So she shows up with a box of ammo and I show her how to load and shoot and clean it. Nothing fancy just a familiarization of the pistol. She shoots the box, does fairly well with it and I show her some safety things and I was pleased for a box of ammo. Then showed her how to clean it.
So tonight I'm sitting here and I'm thinking about that box she was shooting at, so I grab a 9mm and a flashlight (it is dark and it's down the hill) and after two mags I know my new function in life is to shoot more at night time and hit that darn box more than I did. I can tell I shot all around the edges of the box and I put several IN the box.. but not like I expected I could/would. So time to practice practice.
Thinking about the other post the other day about just shooting ammo or practicing.. tonight I think I was just shooting ammo.. to know that I need to practice my night shooting.. (I'm quite certain the people down the road are curious though)

I hear you on thinking you can do something and when you actually try it quite the opposite happens. I bet you had fun though!

Monday night the ducks woke me up making all kinds of noise. Slipped on my sneakers, grabbed a flashlight and pistol and sneaked out. All the ducks but 1 were on the pond, about 10' from the shore and making a rucus. There on the bank, about 15 yards from me, was a fox pinning down an old drake. It was overcast and dark, and using a flashlight with a half dead battery, I took the shot. Killed the fox. Duck got away with some bites on a leg and a wing, but he will be fine. The fox was a male. There was a female and a litter of 3 kits on the back of the property a few weeks ago, so I am wondering how long it will be be fore they come up as well. They necver seem to show up until night time...right along with the invasion of a hoard of skunks. Night practice looks like it is going to be on the increase for me for a while!  |

If you lived a lil closer, I would be more than happy to let you practice out here!! Foxes, skunks, coons, opposums, squirrels, rabbits, weasels...you name it, they are becoming a nuisance!! ESPECIALLY the foxes and skunks!!

I'd do it too.. Practice is high on my list.. cause I can't afford night vision goggles You're not missing too much unless you're talking about the really high quality stuff. Unless it's in that category I prefer using my own eyes in nighttime. |

once every 3 months our club has a Night match for IDPA and if you've never used a gun @ night or with a light your in for a SUURRRPRIIIIZE:). EVERYONE NEED TO DO THIS A FEW TIMES TO SEE JUST HOW DIFFICULT IT CAN BE...and HOW TO COMPENSATE FOR IT.....pLUS ITS FUN AS ALL GETOUT:)
