LDS FOOD STORAGE LOCATIONS In cleaning up some of my older stored files I re-found this web site. One address below tells you about them, the other lists the locations where they have storage centers/warehouses, some are ½ a million square feet. As it says some will allow you to buy from them and even use their canning and sealing equipment. Even if they don’t allow you to buy direct from them it would be a good location to be aware of. If it was a real SHTF situation I doubt they would refuse food to anyone as long as they had it. I am not a Mormon and I have nothing to do with these sites. Also the site my pop-up a request for name and email, unless you want to receive their emails and get your name on their list, you can just X out the pop-up and still see their site information. providentliving.org/self-reliance/food-storage/home-storage-center-locations?lang=engHome Storage Center Please note, Home Storage Centers are for members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Later-day Saints; however, non-members may be allowed to utilized them as well. If you are NOT a member of the church, please call the Home Storage Center in your area IN ADVANCE of your visit to find out if you are allowed to use the facility. intelligentlivingpoes.wordpress.com/2009/09/24/portland-home-storage-centerlds-dry-pack-cannery-location/This site provides all of the information about the sites and includes forms and charts on food inventory and pricing at the centers. For example the closest center to me is in Columbia, SC. Additionally the town I live in has a Food Bank where over a million # of food is processed every year. In my opinion It is nice to know where food warehouses are located near you, before SHTF.

Please keep in mind that most of the storehouses are small satellite units that do not have any more food than the grocery store. They serve the immediate needs of the poor members of the faith in that area. They do not have large quantities of long term storage of items on hand.
The church will move trucks with more food to those locations if something bad happens but that also takes time. Also, often in emergency situations the church relies on other organizations such as the Red Cross to distribute the food. So showing up may not help you because there may be nothing on the shelves at that point. Your best plan is to prepare yourself.
Also, the dry canning is not available at all facilities anymore. There were some changes in regulations that placed requirments on them that made it much more difficult to offer that service. So you may not be able to can yourself at the storehouse in your area. The best bet is to call in advance and ask.

But it was my understanding you may be able to buy off of their list and they could bring your order into the center if they did not have it on hand. For example the #10 cans of stew and such are cheaper through them, plus shipping will be less then if you ordered from the intranet.
I am not trying to suggest doing anything they don't want to do, just trying to give people possible alternatives.
The last time I ordered from them they did not charge me shipping and the stores were cheaper. When I picked up my order I made a donation of what shipping would have been. It was worth it to me to get them at a better price and to be able to pick them up.

I do prep for myself. I went to the site, read its information, called BOTH locations today and WOOYZ is right. They will send you a list with prices and you can phone in orderes with a credit card or take an order to them with payment and they will either fill it then or order your goods with a set delivery/pick up date. They do set appointments for people not members to be able to come in and use their equipment as well...for a small fee if you do not buy the supplies from them. I think if they are close enough and one has a large quantity to order or package/can, it could be a money saver. Especially if you don't have to buy the equipment and you know what you are getting versus store bought. They do keep a set amount back for community members, but they also keep a set amount for selling. Thats one way they make money. True they may not have anything should SHTF, but I think the idea in this thread is to know its there, use it to your advantage in prepping now and if SHTF and they are use to seeing you as a customer then chances are they might help you with some last minute supplies.
I know what you were referring to, WOODYZ. And thank you for the link.

Each location is different though on what is available. Dink called and got good information but it may be a little different in other areas. Some of these storehouses also have employment centers adjacent to them that offer employment services such as resume writing, interviewing skills courses, and they also have job listings. This service is also open to everyone. I have listed job openings I was looking to hire with them a couple years ago. The people that work there are really nice.

Wow, what great info woodyz! I do wish they had more than one here in SC but, guess it just means a road trip. I'll definitely have to check out their other prices. Just on the family starter kit, the price was amazing for someone who didn't already have those items. Many thanks for the info!!!!
