I don't know if this is the right section or not(maybe this needs to be in camping) but I have a Eureka Solitare 1 man tent that I want to change the color of. The rain fly is bright yellow and I want it WAY less noticable. Has anyone ever done this before? I can get fabric dye in spray cans, but I was wondering if it would effect the breathability of the material?

You might want to look into getting a camo tarp. The tarp would serve as an extra layer against precipitation, as well as provide the necessary ability to be inconspicuous. A camo tarp can be bought for under $20, and with that, you don't have to chance ruining your tent's fabric using spray paint and what not.

The tarp could also wrap, in a C shape, around the tent in wind-driven rain. It's what we did a few years ago to keep a thunderstorm's downpour at bay; it worked very well.

How about getting a piece of black fabric, something lightweight and the same general size as the rain fly, and duct taping, tying or safety pinning it over the fly? That way if you ever NEEDED the rain fly to be bright yellow (say for signaling overhead search choppers if you're ever lost) you'll still have it. And you could use the black fabric for other things in the meantime, like a bundle bag or long tie-on head wrap, keeping it folded up small and stowed with the tent when not used elsewhere.
