My local Wal Mart sells guns. Got the flyer in the mail and it has a DPMS for @$500, a Sig M400 for @$900 and a Colt for @$1100. I also found out the sell Bushmaster for the same as the Sig. My question is, having the money to buy any of them, which would you get. The DPMS and take the savings and buy optics, ammo, accessories, etc, The Sig or Bushmaster or go for the colt. ALL have 16 inch barrels.

All i'm saying is do your home work and know what your buying.

I can personally tell you thats NOT true. It bought a remington 870 Supermag there for $357 in full camo. The EXACT same gun, EXACT same fit and finish at Bass pro was $499. They buy there guns in bulk. That is why they are cheaper. You buy 500 guns and spread them across 100 stores instead of one dealer only being able to buy a handful, the price is cheaper.

Read on the other site about walmart sending particular specs for items to sell cheaper. Ruger 10/22 was one mentioned being the first retailer to have them with plastic parts inside. The scott towels are another example. Smaller sized or less per pack. Not saying it is always the case but i can tell you for certain resses cups are smaller there than local stores

True DPMS rifle with true to spec DPMS parts...you can't go wrong...1000's of rounds through mine and ZERO hickups!!! Go DPMS and add on / stock up as needed...Wal-Mart, Sports Academy, Dicks, Mom 'n Pops...if it's DPMS through and through...I'd do it again!!!!

To me the main reason for getting either of them would be to have a good dependable gun. That being said most AR type rifles perform well now days. It is a battle rifle and should be thought of as one. NOT a platform to hang stuff on. My favorites are Rock River, and Colt. Most companies want to make money, so if they are able sell one and make a profit at $500, there is a reason. I make a lot of gun shows and see what sells and does not. For some reason there is always a ton of guys carrying DPMS around with signs on them for sale. Buy the end of the day they are still packing them with mark down prices on them? I have shot DPMS and liked them, but for some reason reselling them is just impossible. Colts are easy to resell especially after the next ban. So I guess it depends on your long term plan.

If your sure about the guns your buying then it's all good, no harm in being careful......right. I have at times purchased guns at walmart but that was years ago and many walmarts will not sell guns in the stores anymore.

mine is DPMS. I spent a lot more than $500- almost double that...(got it from local gun dealer).
anyways, it is fine for my purposes and selling it is not part of my long term plan.
I am bummed that I didn't get a chrome lined barrel....but oh well....

The trigger group and the barrel band. It happened around 2007-08. It is RUGER who is trying to keep costs down. And the multiple forums that mentioned it, the people who had them, didn't care. Said it didn't change the functionality or accuracy one bit. And the trigger is one of the first things swapped out in them for aftermarket anyway. Just sayin'.
