The last chicks I had were mail order from the same place. Great chicks and a decent price.

Urban question (dumb question) : Are chicks (and chickens) hard to care for?

Easy as falling off a log. Chicks need lots of clean fresh water, I can't believe how much they can drink. Keep them warm (85) for about 10 days then gradually lower the heat to outside daytime temp. When I move them out side I let them stay at daytime temp but give them a heat lamp at night for a couple of weeks. I used Mcmurray for years, always satisfied with them and there products. We hatch our own right now, so everyone in our group understands and gets to practice the process so if we have to later. I am not saying one is better or not just adding my two cents. www.mcmurrayhatchery.com/index.html

I noticed from the pictures you are feeding grain instead of mash. Are you giving them vit in the water? I have found they do much better on chick starter. It has more than twice the protein of grain. It cost more but they get more from it. Once they get six weeks or so I switch to half and half. Just my .02
