I found this through a YouTube video and thought it might be something someone might want or would like to read on here. I have never tried to make it nor eat it. If anyone has made it or tired it I would love some feed back on it. I might actually try to make this sometime in the future. Non the less here is the link to the PDF file. www.traditionaltx.us/images/PEMMICAN.pdf

I have had it before...it was made from buffalo & elk, dried fruit & berries, smashed nuts (pine, pecan walnut and almond) and I really don't know what else...it wasn't bad, very filling, and what she gave me had apparently been "on the shelf" for quite a while. She made tubes of it and hung it from the ceiling in her basement. She had soem made with apples, pears and figs. She said she just dried them completly and ground them up before adding them to teh mixture. Sure made fofr some interesting taste combinations.
I want to try and make some from deer, rabbit, squirrel and maybe some beef.
Thanks for the link.

Your welcome. Thought some people on here might like the link. I have never tried it but would like to. This is the first time I have even heard of it. Look like something that might be good for backpacking and such.

Yeah...ole gal lives out in northwest Colorado...they carry it along in packs on the horses when they are out in the mountains hunting, camping and rounding up their cattle. And her kids like to take it along on field trips for school and scouts and things like that. Her 7 year old son and 10 yr old twin girls help make it, and have fun doing it!
