Just sitting here reading some open carry stuff, and really can't decide how to react to the new carry law going into effect Nov. 1 here in Ok. Those that live in open carry states already, what do you think of it? Do you even notice, do you carry that way, did it make you feel uneasy when it started? I have mixed emotions on it. I do not plan to carry in plain view, but I know....from living here forever, that we will have Yosemite Sam types just waiting to dress up in double cross draw rigs and Clint Eastwood ponchos and hats. That is going to make me nervous, in dark parking lots and secluded areas. Maybe even at noon on main street. I am a hand watcher from way back as LE requires that of you. Who sees misunderstandings from flailing hands, unintended gun touching or even goobers having their weapons out for what ever reason? What would signal the "time'' to react for you? So that you are not behind on the game. Any how just wanted to get a little input on the good, bad, & the ugly of the whole thing. Seems like maybe we discussed this some where, but search said no.

We have open carry here but you very rarely see anyone doing it. Most people with an ounce of sense know that by exercising that right they will probably cause someone to panic and it will be a big mess.
On the occasions that I do see someone carrying it doesn't bother me. They are being open and up front about what they have. I guess I'm more concerned about the ones that don't show their hand or any clues about their intentions.
In a lawless situation I think then it might be best to open carry. It sends a message that maybe you aren't the person to mess with that day.

We live in an open carry state. I have never seen any one OC here. I am sure every one would go ballistic and some one would be shot and killed for exercising that right.

I agree with okie. I do however like the unlicences open carry on private property hough. I like having a 22 when i deer hunt for squirrels. Never hve and never will poach but stray dogs coyotes and squirrels are fair game

GA's Open carry law is a bit nebulous. So, I always wear a shirt over mine. I leave the shirt unbuttoned with a Pocket Tee under it. If the wind blows the shirt open . . . I don't worry about it that much. I do feel uncomfortable with a full open carry and have never done so.

I also carry but it's concealed unless I've been hunting and have one on my side then I don't worry about it either way.

We have had open carry here in Ohio for as long as I can remember. Outside of the one open carry march I seen, I can count on one hand the number of people I have seen open carrying. The way I look at it, someone with bad intentions is not going to have their weapon displayed until they are actually ready to commit a crime. Open carry is so uncommon that you are going to draw attention to yourself, this pretty much eliminates criminals from doing it.
On the up side, you don't have to worry about printing or the occasional exposure of your CCW. I carry a full sized Springfield XDm .40 and although I don't "open carry", I don't dress around the gun. If it shows, oh well. People are so oblivious, the only person who has ever noticed was my uncle but he already knew I carried and knows what to look for because he carries himself.
My advice, don't sweat it. Nothing bad will come of it and people who legally CCW won't have to worry about getting arrested or detained for printing or accidentally exposing their gun.

Thanks for the input all. I hope it works out well. I fully expect all the stores to post no gun signs, just like they did for the CC.

I agree with everything you said. I'm OK with pistols in a holster on the hip. I'm afraid we'd get groups of guys walking around the ghetto with slung AKs, or these idiots showing up at peaceful demonstrations.... youtu.be/wXxruHdZG9AWatch the video and at first you may agree with their stance. Then we find out later that they are really a group of white supremacists ultimately pushing for a white only America. Point being, I wouldn't feel safer with them there. Bottom line, I would prefer leaving the AR15 in the car or at home. I prefer a civilized looking America until we get to the point where clearly that's not the case. CCW or pistol on the hip, sure. Cops and civilians walking around on a daily basis with slung log guns, no thanks.

CT is a pretty gray area regarding any sort of carry. Ex. our very permits state that it's a permit to carry, not to openly carry, nor carry concealed.
Per my understanding of CT law one COULD carry openly, but as soon as it causes panic/"disturbs the peace" then that person carrying openly is no longer doing it legally. Yeah, it's that weird/stupid. The only places I've ever seen open carry are on shooting ranges, gun stores, and NRA pistol classes. That's pretty much it.
