Went back at it today and I think I found some good natural cordage for my bow drill kit. I found it by some dog bane plants. It has a green stem and no seed pods like dog bane does.Take notice how easily the fiber comes off the stem.I'm going back to the lake where I found this plant and take some pics and collect some. I need to ID this plant for future use.I do believe I had a coal today then the da* spindle had to slip out and scatter my dust to the wind, what a heart brake that was. I will keep trying till successful with the all natural bow drill fire

What makes it easier with 550? Not having to make cordage or something else?

it is hard enough with man made cordage, with natural WHOOEEE that a tough one, but you look like you are almost there (and its not something i have ever been able to do with natural cordage either lol)

What makes it easier with 550? Not having to make cordage or something else? Very big difference between man made and natural cordage. First you have to work with what you have available in your area. second Natural cordage will not take the abuse like 550 does. In this new video it's the first time I found a plant with fibers tough enough to hold up to bowing. Making cordage from plants is fun but it has it's draw backs. Hope that helps
