While in my local fun shop today, I watched the owner ring up a customer for five Smith and Wesson M&P AR15 Sport rifles. With a grim smile, the customer said that he clearly remembered what an AR cost him after the Clinton era ban. They are basic level AR's but these guns and their sisters will stay packed in their sealed boxes to be sold later.
He looked at me and said: "Do you believe that the President will push through a ban?"
Hmmm.......I don't have the cash to spare, but I wonder what today's AR's will be worth when you can't buy a new one.

A lot will depend on the language, but I am certain the new ban will not have a sunset provision such as the 94 ban. I would also be surprised if high cap mags are even allowed to be sold at all post ban. It will likely be a case of you have what you have after.

Hehe - I was in my favorite shop today to price the S&W M&P 15-22 (I have it's big brother) in order to train on an identical platform without breaking the bank. Talked to one of the employees about possible upcoming sales and he said not that I know of. Another employee whispered to me that on Black Friday that one will be going on sale. I asked how many they had (there were about 40 in boxes on the stack) and he said "more than you can imagine"
I don't know.....I can imagine a lot.
That shop was packed, with over a dozen employees all doing the paperwork for sales. Probably about another 30 waiting to talk to a sales rep.

Mines not for sale period. I built it from a pile of parts. I am part of ot now.
I did see one at my local shop. Thinking about getting another solely on the chance i do need to sell one.. guns are almost always a good investment if aquired at a good price

I think you are right. If they get their way, the door will slam hard and whatever is already out there will be "it." The customer today paid $689.00 each today.

A buddy of mine in L.E. said Nov 7 2012 was the largest single day of gun sales in U.S. history.... I would really like to pick up two or three more but I also think that spare parts are going to be needed just as much as the complete build.

I am thinking high capacity shotguns and hi cap mags will be the sleeper items. Especially the shotguns. That 200 dollar stevens long tube pistol grip shotgun I picked up from walmart shoots well btw. I believe I'll make a wally world trip and get a few more. Edit; maybe not. Out of stock already. I'll be sure to keep it that way if I see one. www.savagearms.com/firearms/model/stevens320pump

A little backyard plinking at mesquite tree knot holes with my new $668.00 S&W M&P15 Sport AR-15 was rewarding. This is their low end AR15 in 5.56mm, but it’s not lacking in performance. I’m a 12ga/7mm magnum guy, so essentially no recoil is a delight. On my first outing, this brand new rifle happily ate: (30) rounds of Tulammo .223, 55 gr steel cased (yeah I know – but had to see if it worked) (200) rounds of Federal .223, 55 gr brass cased FMJ (Cheap at 35 cents/rd at Walmart) (60) Remington .223, 50 gr jacketed hollow point All without a hitch. Next step is run different 5.56 through it to see if it still sings the same tune. This little carbine is lightweight, trim and responsive. The factory trigger feels crisp and is decent for my needs, I would guess it at 5 lbs. The standard flip-up MBUS Magpul dual aperture rear site is a nice touch and works well for my style of shooting too. When I do some bench rest shooting, I suspect that I will find it to be more accurate than I am. These old eyeballs may cause this rifle to need a moderate magnification scope along with the flip up rear iron. I still believe that I can do anything I need to do with a 12 ga inside of 75-100 yards – but I just wanted to see what kind of “bang for the buck” S&W offers with this rifle. It offers a lot for the price.
