Well now I got one. $20 from Wally World. It's razor sharp out of the package. I was actually able to shave hairs off my arm with it. I plan on modding and abusing it. I'll report my finds. I expect it to do well. I also plan on re-hafting it to see if it can be done in the field. I expect I can, but we'll see.

Glad you got one. I got a couple last year. My grandson has 'tested' it all year, by de-limbing all the trees we cut for wood, plus sticking it in every thing. It is still going strong. Wish I had bought more.

Well I have been repeatedly abusing this fasthawk. It is built like a tank. I wrapped the handle in athletic tape then paracord. The "Hammer" sides of the head work really well, but the exposed edge gets in the way. It makes a great belt hawk once you ditch the factory sheath. A small peice of tubing makes a great sheath like the rest of my hatchets. The spike is really useful for pulling stuff out of the ground like roots and tent stakes.
I still have to try making a new haft for it. Doing so will require a star drive socket and a pin vise. But since it weighs less than my hatchet it works out in my favor. Besides, having a pin vise may be handy in a bushcraft kit.

Thank you, Pathwinder! When you originally posted about the $20.00 deal, I went to our local Walmart; but, they didn't have it. As I traveled out of town, I eventually found two Walmarts that had the sale going; but, each had only one FastHawk left in the store. I bought both -- one for me and one for one of my kids. I love it...thanks, again!
