You all should know by now that making fire in different ways is my favorite past time. My quest is to make fire in as many different ways as possible. So far I have been successful at the bowdrill, fresnel lens, firesteel, flint & steel, empty bic and toy caps. I will not include any method that has a flame like matches or lighters. My next quest is the pump drill, just finished it up tonight and will post the video of me using it tomorrow....wish me luck

those are awesome...they take all the friction off your hands (hand drill) and all the back breaking in Bow drills....Knowing you...you'll have a coal in seconds!!!!

I hope so but I have found out that all methods of fire making have there own particular quirks. Once i figure out the In's and outs of the pump drill. I will then try to make one in the field with just my Leatherman Wave Thanks for the encouragement ;D ;D ;D

Every person planing on bugging in should have a pump fire drill at home. It just saves on your other fire making resources

The thing I've found is that your counter weight and pump have to be centered...or it will be out of balance. But looking at your set up...you've got that problem out of the way...the challenge for you will be the field made version.
