How many of you use lint to start a fire? I'm not talking about dryer lint-balls. Yes I use those too, but I'm talking about lint off of your clothes?
Next time you start a fire try this for fun:
Shave your jeans/pants with your knife. You'll build up a small pile of lint. Do this until you have a quarter sized mass. Spark it with your firesteel.
It's fun and saves on cotton balls and lint-balls if you are running low.

Been there done that ;D ;D ;D only problem is doing this long term would leave you pant less ;D Still in a pinch it could be enough to save your life, great minds think alike . I even made a video on this for 5 man made tinders on BCUSA

I have picked cotton lint off my socks playing around starting a fire. Took a long time to get a good amount to put a spark in.

Here is the video on the prison match. If you wear cotton socks you can pick the cotton from your socks and do the same. As for the tissue it's not needed it's simply a holder but it does extend the life of the flame

Uhhhhh....yeah it works...along with about 10,000 other things!!!! I worked in the prison system for 5 years and I've seen more ways to get a spark than most people could imagine!!! I have a WHOLE new view of electricity, combustibility, AA batteries, steel bed frames, flashlight bulbs, fluorescent bulbs, ballasts for 4' or 8' fluorescent bulbs, combination locks, chain link fence, wall sockets, #2 pencils, paper clips, staples, cotton strand mops, level 5 security lighting, and much more...all of the above mentioned things I've seen used to light a cigarette....or their mattress!!!
Good vid OT.

Good vid OT. When a person has all that time on there hands they can and do come up with some fantastic ideas. The Internet is full of tricks that originated from prisoners. All one needs to do is look it up on the web. I also like the double a battery and the gum wrapper lighter...sweet
