Nice, but the Rossi does match the short guns really well.....

Lately, I’m liking the carbine set up for a few reasons.
First, I like the idea of a light, short, handy personal defense/hunting weapon. Something powerful and effective enough to pull your bacon out of the fire out to 200 yards. I’m not looking to snipe people or go on the offensive, just protect myself and others at reasonable ranges. A gun that you could sling on your back and forget it’s there because it’s only like 5 pounds. It’s small and handy enough that it wouldn’t be overly inconvenient to have it with you all the time, but powerful enough to get the job done at mild distances.
It’s also a tool that could be used to hunt with. Maybe not you’re go-to hunting gun, but effective enough that you feel confident with that 125 yard shot on a deer.
It’s a gun you would give strong consideration in a bug-out scenario because it easily deploys from a vehicle, and it’s light and handy enough to carry on foot for considerable distance.
Lastly, it probably wouldn't be on a gun-ban lists.
Not the perfect gun for everything, but a decent compromise. The equivalent of a trail gun in rifle configuration…

They are a good option for another reason will. Internal magazines and mechanical actions.

I am going for a magazine feed semi auto, it's going to be one with ammunition that is far more prolific than the M1 carbine. Between the M1 carbine and the lever action 357 or 44 mag, I am going with the latter.

Well its not really related to the post but you all know how side tracked I can get.
Got my 10 year old Grandson a Rossi matched set under the Christmas tree. Stock adjust from youth up. 12 ga barrel with a .410 insert, .22 barrel and .243 barrel. He should be set. The whole thing breaks down into a case about 18" long.

I bought an extra pair but not a set. This one has a 5.56 barral and the other barrel is a 7.62x39, if I can find a 308 barrel fo it all be set.
That what I want to ask someone, how do pistol rounds say 9MM in a rifel does it work out?

Christmas delivered an arsenal marked, 1943 USM Corps, IBM made, M1 carbine. Man if this gun could talk, I'll bet it would have some stories. It has flip sights for 100 and 200 yards, real good rifling and it's in good condition. I had ordered a replacement recoil spring, sling and some mags and promptly installed them. My wife's good to me...

BTW, I just love the compact size of it. Pictures really don't do the size justice. It's the length of a yard stick and weighs about 2 pounds less than my AR15 carbine (which I thought was a pretty light gun). It's extremely handy.

So so nice!!! Merry Christmas!!!!!!
When I was in the service I picked up a springfield armory M1 carbine at a lawn sale, came with pouches, mags and ammo a sling and a USGI gunbag. Gun was in perfect condition with matching numbers. Being a drunken sailor I got behind on a couple truck payments and sold the gun to a friend for the amount of the payment, 295.00. He still has it to this day and wont part with it. I kick my self often for being so stupid.

I took it to the back 40 this afternoon to try it out. I was surprised to find it works perfectly and the sights are right on at 100 yards. I mean right on baby. Thank God because there’s no elevation adjustment I can see and windage looks to involve a hammer and punch.

I haven't touched one in a while, but I seem to recall there are adjustable sights available for that.
