This is a 1917 Remington hex receiver, that was already Bubba-ized when I got it Stock cut down and refinished, bolt bent, and barrel shortened, front sight changed. Wanting to add glass, took the easy way and ordered up a Mosin Nagant scope kit from Sportsman Guide...... shop.sportsmansguide.com/net/cb/cb.aspx?a=1040751This wasn't as simple as the instructions said, as this older model had the older rear sight, narrower ear mounts, and smaller pin holes, than the later models. The base in the kit had to be narrowed by a machinist, to fit.......But then fit pretty well. Then it was a matter of driving out the pin on the sight, setting the mount in the groove, and replacing the pin.....Set screws included in the mount kit didn't fit the ear holes either, so just used the pin, as I didn't want to drill out the holes.......we will see how it works. Then tighten up the leveling screws and done.......Still need to install the sling....

Question for ya Hunter. That eye relief looks a long long ways from the butt stock, do you have any field of vision with it being that far forward?

It's made and sold as a "extended eye relief scope", like the ones used on pistols......didn't want to drill the reciever so went with this......i can always use the scope on a pistol if I get bored with this set up.

Ahhhh, I didn't think of that? I'm don't handle pistols all that much. Hope the set-up works out A-Ok for ya, looks pretty cool and sounds like you tried to do it up right!

Thanks for sharing! I have two of these, very hard hitting with good reach. I have kept them and figure to use them as sniper shootum and leaveum behind rifles as I paid about $50 each for them.

I'm still fan of Mosin's because I've never found another high powered rifle system that comes even close to the same cost/benefit ratio. You can still put a solid, reliable, hard hitting rifle and 440 rounds of ammo in every family member's closet for $ 200.
I can't imagine a better candidate to seal up in PVC pipe and store vertically in your favorite patch of dirt. A post hole digger leaves a nice small footprint to clean up and condensation should be dealt with.

Nagants are basicely a "Bic, 30-06... Use it till it's empty and throw it away"....This was a show special where most all the Bubba-izing was already done. Kinda too bad it was cut down as it is Russian rifle made by Remington in 1917

After a generous donation of a couple of metal inserts from another Nagant enthusiast that does some stock work and such...... and some in-letting.....got the old style sling installed. So with a total of $135+ bucks at this point....I gonna call it done. Maybe a trigger job later, but it does look and feel like the spring had been worked on already.....so I gonna wait on that.

Much easier to start hacking away on a $50 to $150 buck rifle, than and expensive one.

Couple of 91/30 around, an M38 carbine, and a M44, barrels on the carbines are about the same length as Bubba......so no haven't noticed any difference....Bubba was short when I got it.....

It looks good. Time to start on the next one, since it is probably all we'll be allowed to have soon. LOL
