Back in the day, folks could sneak on to the local base and pick up lots of stuff. Never seen it but have several swear someone walked off with an M16. I do know several radios and rounds were picked up. but that was 20 years ago or so and I would suspect security is much tighter now.

Back in the day I would have been running a scam on him and busting him and his suppliers. So where does that put me? Have I compromised my basic values, or have I just adapted and overcome a different set of "obstacles" preventing me from reaching my current goals?
Right now I am adjusting plans that contain triggers that chnage the exercise from a prepper to a scavenger, to a looter and it gets harder every day to draw the line in the sand.
I think at this time I believe to be a surviver I will have to cross the lines and become all of the above. And like any plan, like any trigger, it has to go both ways. You may have to move into a place you don't want to be, but you need to have a plan that includes scaling back down too.

let me clarify that... an enterprising person with a 4x4, compass, map and good woods skills could locate training areas where more often than not items were 'lost' during exercises. full ammo cans of m60 and saw belts loaded with blanks, lights, radios, ponchos, mess kits, knives, tents, flash bangs, smoke grenades...dont ask how I know about it but i can assure you my only trip there garnered a two hour chase by some dedicated MP's. We got off with trespassing since we made fools of them for so long on their own pace.
