Won't the slowdown and bringing home thousands of US troops result in a temporary glut in the markey for all things related? MRE's clothing, boots, all the things manufacturing has been mass producing for 10 years and will be sitting on a warehouse full of related "stuff" they need to sale at any price they can get? When 10K troops return to a base all at once, don't you expect to see every pawn shop in town selling 782 gear at 10 for a dollar? Yes I know it isn't called 782 gear any longer, but you know what I mean. 1000's will be getting out and getting rid of all of the extra they don't have to turn in and 1/2 of it they are supposed to. Even the ones who stay in won't be carrying around 15 mags like they are now. Ammo makers have ran day and night to keep those weapons kept on full auto for every other shot fired running. When you watch the films do you ever see anyone not changing out a mag every other shot? With the military going back to giving each man one bullet each time they fire on the shooting range, it seems to be there will be warehouses of rounds to be bought by the highest bidder. Pennies on the dollar. Ofcourse the US in it wisdom will give a lot to Mexico and Columbia and other countries that will just shoot it back at us, but there will still be some deals made, there is just too much stuff and the military has never been able to track any of it. Those shady guys on the street who now sale Rolexes for $25 will be giving away 500 rounds of 9MM for every $100 Beretta you buy. Everyone now driving a pickup truck will trade it in for two humvees and a quad 50. Its a buyers market, time to dig up your silver and become a local warloard.

Woodzy,
I seriously doubt any civilians will ever see any of that gear. Especially for the mags. Independent test, and results from various members of this forum show them to be rock solid in quality, but there was that inexplicable recall by the DOD of those mags.
In all, I suspect that equipment will be destroyed before it's allowed to be in civilian hands.

Especially the mags.. can you imagine if one of those turned up at a mass shooting...? Just before I got out of the Army, they were phasing in the Humvees.. so we had to take all of our jeeps and do a 100% inspection on them, order any missing parts, hardware, make them 100% operational for them to be turned in so they could be destroyed. (After 50+ years of service it was deemed necessary because they were prone to rollover in an accident and they didn't want to have civilians buy them and not know how to drive them safely to prevent rollover in case of an accident) Yeah I doubt if they'll be selling any 'military surplus'.. even though there always is some that finds its way to the populace.

So what I am looking for is Magpul Gen 2 PMAG 30 Round 5.56x45 AR15/M16 Magazine - Black - Includes Dust Cover MAG211-BLK. If not tell me what it is I am looking for. I will bet that I can go to a place I know and either pick it up or ask for it and get it the next week. Or just about anything else you might find on an Army base. Now I am still not driving after my last stroke and the guy I am going to go see will only deal with certain people so I will have to arrange for a friend of us both to take me, so it may be a few weeks. But I will be very surprised if he doesn't have or can't get anything within reason. I don't know what the price will be, but he can generally beat any internet deal and cash always gets a big discount.

Now I am feeling like crap, I more than likely deserve it.
But as long as we are not on an equal playing field, as long as my country is under attack, I will do what ever it takes to Defend the US Constitution against all enemies, foreign and DOMESTIC. So help me GOD.

It will be harder for you younger guys who have gotten used to them semi-automatic high capacity magazines and armour peircing rounds.
All I go left is a pump 12 ga, a 9mm Beretta, and a bolt action .243. I'm not going to be effected by the new laws for atlease 10 years or so and by then I will be tossing thunderbolts down at who ever wins this thing.
I got one preacher who says America won't have a horse left in the race, then I got another one who says we will be in the fight only we get to have a different name or renamed our real name or what ever the heck. It gets so confused listening to all of the different versions and intrupertations that a simple man like me can't do any worse shooting them all first. I'd be atleast 50% right.
But then I remember a GYSGT telling me not to worry about it. GOD will sort it all out. If I shoot the wrong one he will just move it over to the other pile and kind of make up for the whole thing.
