How about using a sunglasses case for a small emergency kit? I'm talking about the cases from the dollar store... hard clamshell plastic kind with a little latch, costs one buck. Easy to fit into a pocket-purse-glove compartment, innocuous looking, would hold more than an Altoids tin does, and they are lined with fuzzy stuff that would cushion better than an Altoids tin. Oh, and the rectangular shape would allow for a knife. The latches are pretty secure, too. I've never had one pop open on its own. These don't come with a clip, but you could figure out a way to attach one of these to a car visor to keep it handy just in case, huh?

A good friend of mine is a diabetic and he used to keep a couple syringes, his tester, strips and both insulin meds in one. Kept it closed with a couple hair elastics as the little spring on the glasses case got weak over time.
Awesome idea!!!
