Hunting Guy, congratulations on the boy. Glad he is doing okay. I wanted one but had two girls, which I promptly corrupted and made tom boys of them. Finally got a grandson which I totally enjoy, we hunt and shoot and have a great time. Take them both out and live it up.

We had a great time! I ended up with 6 guys and two boats. 4 guys had never been in flooded timber or a swamp 1 guy had never been on a duck hunt ever. So it was more or less me and 5 newbies! They were all really great guys and we had alot of fun. It's pretty cool when you can meet 5 guys in a parking lot during the predawn darkness and drive into nowhere in boats and hike out through the swamp, put out decoys and wait for the daybreak to bring the ducks. By the time good light comes we are all laughin and teasin one another like a only a buncha guys in the woods can do, as if we had all been huntin together for years. Ya jus gotta love duck huntin! Today's hunt~ We don't have near enough water! We have ducks but they just don't wanna come in the timber. We need some cold temps too but the water is the big problem, or so I think. We had lots of ducks and good ducks too but they would only circle and look but not commit and come in. We killed one Wood Duck and it was shot by the young guy who had never been on a duck hunt before and he was shooting at dang near every duck that flew even close! I would just smile to myself and let him have at it, he was having fun, and by gosh he killed his first duck too! How cool is that! Like I said we had a great time and even though it was alot of work and the ducks wouldn't cooperate there were no complaints or cross words and we worked at everything as a team from setting up decoys to draaggggin the boats through shallow areas. I would love for the hunting to get right and take everyone of these new duck hunters right back down there and let them see what a really good day is like. I think they all earned it and the ducks owe them one after today! Here are the photos I promised, not so great but it proves we were there, and yes we did get rain on a little bit! "Nuge" and his first duck! My band of Swamp Gypsies! The two newbies I carried. Second boat of Swamp Gypsies. One of our spots we tried.

Not sure about the photos anymore I have resized them all to 640x480 in photobucket and they still come out full screen for me? I tried doing some at 400x400 and sometimes it fits and sometimes it won't? I like putting the photo on here rather than a link or a thumbnail but I guess this will have to do??? Here is Nuge with his first duck, sorry it didn't come out in the first post??? This one is at 400x400, we'll see???

Disappointing hunt but with a great buddy like you showing them a good time they seem to have had a great time all in all. I'm sure there will be other hunts in their future with you leading the way.

Thanks CLady! That was the coolest thing about these guys, not a single one was the least bit disappointed! One fella drove 3 1/2 hours one way! Everyone of them is chomping at the bit to get back down there and do it all over again!
I feel like if we could get some water in here and have a nice clear blue sky we will have a good hunt for them. Although as I said before we went, whether you kill ducks or not you never forget your first duck hunt!

Thanks for the prayers. He's doing much better and should be fine in a few days. We are blessed.
Didn't mean to derail the thread.
Great pics and good times BJ! That's what it's all about. Sometimes bein a duck guide is HARD!
Great job friend!

Glad ya liked them.
Not a problem at all getting off subject for that of all things! I really wanted to say something myself in the worst way but it wasn't my great news to break so I was thrilled that you did!
Glad to hear he's getting lined out.

Me too friend, me too. I'll get with it before to long, provided we get some rain. With all those young guns with me on Sunday I didn't even take her outta the case. If there was any shootin to be done I wanted those new boys to get it. But trust me I am so ready to sling some steel out of that baby! My next trip maybe a solo hunt so I might do better. If this weather slams me like they're saying it just may scrap my deer hunt, which I'll hate. But if it does I can hit the river here by the house and get in some of the backwater sloughs, the snow may have some mallards holed up in em. That's the first place they hit when their food in the fields is covered up in snow. I'll keep ya posted!
