OT I fish all the time, we have a smallish farm pond full of crappie brim and bass. I use to do a lot of cat and trout fishing.Haven't had a lot of time for that in the last few months. I like to ride up to the Blue Ridge Parkway and hit some of the trout waters and also in the Linville Gorge Wilderness area and the Pisgah National Forest . For cats we always go to on of the dams on lake Norman were the is a coal fire power plant. The Water is nice and warm were the outlet for the power plant is and we have pulled some nice fish out of there.

One thing I would change is the mono line and use braid instead. It last longer and it has no memory so no curls in the line when fishing with it. I would also add a casting float to hold my bait off the bottom, thanks for sharing ;D ;D ;D

A few weeks after I made it I tried it out and spent about 20 minuets straighting out the line. I Don't think I will have room for a float, I thought I could make one out of some type of buoyant wood when needed. What do you think about carving one when needed?

Sure you can do that, just find a small twig and split one end. Then force your line into that split

Floats can be made out of all sorts of natural material as well as a multitude of salvage that might be scrounged around a lake shore or stream bank. Wood, cane, reeds and even large quills off of birds all make good floats. Their depth can be set with a stopper knot or even easily set and adjusted using one of the split-shot type sinkers in your mini-kit.

You know, I have never gone a whole day fishing and not seen some type of man made trash!
